Kings Park, Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority

Perth’s natural heartland, Kings Park sits on Mount Eliza overlooking the city and the Swan River. Here, you’ll find 400 hectares of towering trees, natural bushland, lakes, grand lookouts and sculpted botanical gardens.

Kings Park offers perhaps the best view over Perth, the broad reaches of the Swan River and east to the Darling Range.

Free guided walking tours, barbecue facilities, children’s playgrounds, tearooms and fine dining restaurant make Kings Park a popular place for locals and visitors to relax.

Take a stroll among the treetops on the Federation Walkway. This walk takes you high into the eucalypt canopy, while informative plaques teach you about local fauna as well as Aboriginal and European history.

The park is also home to the State War Memorial. The Memorial is also one of several scenic vantage points and the starting point for the Western Australian Botanic Garden planted with 1700 native species.

Kings Park is an excellent place to see the best of the state’s wildflowers. Its annual wildflower festival in September showcases a huge variety of flowers that are found elsewhere in the State.

Kings Park is about a 15 minute walk from the centre of Perth.
