Discovery Science & Technology Centre in Bendigo is regional Victoria s largest not-for-profit educational science centre and one of Central Victoria s premier educational facilities.
With over 120 hands-on exhibits, Discovery activates community learning in an environment that is fun, safe and positive.
To ensure that the visitor experience is always fun and interesting, Discovery has a comprehensive exhibit building program.
Each year the centre strives to deliver new, fun, hands-on, interactive educational exhibits that spark excitement and interest in science, with the majority of new exhibits built in the Bendigo workshop.
Discovery specialises in exhibits that are 100% hands-on and based on science related learning areas. Discovery s exhibits and programs are specifically designed to reach a broad range of visitors.
The philosophy which underpins its exhibit design and program development is to educate, entertain and encourage an interest in the sciences for children, as well as interest and enlighten older members of the community Discovery s leading permanent exhibits include Australia s tallest vertical slide, the Bendigo planetarium and Kaleidoscope a series of over 20 exhibits designed specifically for children aged eight and under.
To assist teachers in their class planning, Discovery details its exhibits in relation to the Science strand of the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) with information listed on its website.
Discovery also caters for large group sleepovers, birthday parties and other private and corporate functions. Its large auditorium area can be hired, as well as functions set-up on the floor amongst the exhibits. Catering is available for functions of any size.
