A bit about us
Lillico Wines is owned and operated by Marie and Robert Young.
The Young family moved to Warragul in 1993 for Marie to take up a senior nursing position at West Gippsland Hospital while Robert commuted to Melbourne where he worked as a firefighter with the Metropolitan Fire Brigade.
After purchasing a small farm on which they ran a beef herd Robert suggested that a glass of cabernet from the property would go will with a steak! 1998 saw an all out family effort in planting the vineyard, and viticulture and winemaking qualifications for Marie.
The winery was established in 2004 followed by the conversion of the old dairy into a unique cellar door cafe.
Our vineyard and winery
Our vineyard uses an integrated pest management approach to ensure that it is farmed in an environmentally friendly way.
Non-irrigation and low yields ensure that concentrated flavours are expressed in our wines.
While our wines display the "real character" of cool climate Gippsland fruit, they also exhibit individuality reflective of our site and the seasonal differences between vintages.
Cellar door cafe
We are open for tastings from 10am - 5pm Thurs - Sun, public holidays (except Xmas Day and Good Friday) or by appointment.
Delicious regional lunches are served in the cellar door or in the sunny courtyard on weekends and public holidays between noon and 5pm.
Our menu features scrumptious platters and other seasonal dishes showcasing the region's gourmet produce, beef, cheeses, smoked fish and chicken, oils, olives, preserves and coffee.
Call in and taste our wines or relax over a meal. Marie and Robert will be happy to chat with you about the traditional methods used and the individual characteristics of the wines.
