West Coast Pioneers Memorial Museum
The West Coast Pioneers Memorial Museum at Zeehan celebrates the west coast’s rich pioneering past.
You can learn about the history of the region’s mining industry, which began to boom around 1882 when silver-lead deposits were found. Zeehan’s population peaked at 10,000 – more than 10 times the current population – and lasted until the closure of the last mine in 1914.
See the museum’s fascinating displays of pioneering memorabilia, including some of the best mineral samples in the world. There are working and static displays, including mining equipment, machinery and steam locomotives.
