Lavender House
Lavender House is a lavender farm and tearooms at Rowella, in Tasmania’s Tamar Valley.
Winner of two Tasmanian Tourism Awards, Lavender House (and Lavender Fields Tasmania) has over eight hectares (20 acres) of lavender crops comprising more than 70 varieties of the fragrant plant. Lavender House produces a range of skin and body care products using pure organic essential oils distilled on the premises. You can browse the showroom and gift shop to choose from skin care, aromatherapy, essential oils and household lavender products. There is also a culinary range, which includes lavender honey, oils and vinegars, and herbal tea infusions.
During early January, you can watch the annual harvest and see the distillation of valuable lavender perfumery oil. Visit the tearooms to choose from the menu of delicious snacks, including freshly baked lavender scones. You can stroll through more than a hectare (three acres) of flower gardens and visitors with a disability can also access a specially planned garden and facilities. Lavender House is open all year and has a longer flowering time. It is close to Launceston, Beaconsfield and Batman Bridge.
Rowella is a 40-minute drive north of Launceston (32 kilometres/20 miles) on the Tamar Valley wine route.
