Waverley Cottage
Waverley Cottage offers self-contained, heritage accommodation at Oatlands in the Tasmanian Midlands. Oatlands is an hour’s drive from Hobart (84 kilometres) and an hour and twenty minutes from Launceston (117 kilometres).
Built in 1854, Waverley Cottage is listed by the National Trust. The property has a ground floor main bedroom with a queen-size bed, and three single beds in an attic bedroom, which is accessed by the original spiral staircase. A fourth single bed is located on a mezzanine, which overlooks the living area. There is also a separate bathroom with a bath and shower, and a fully-equipped kitchen. Continental breakfast provisions, including homemade jams, are supplied. The combined living and dining area has a large open fireplace, television and CD player. Complimentary port or sherry and ground coffee is also provided.
Waverley Cottage is located in a rural setting five kilometres from the centre of Oatlands, which has one of the finest concentrations of Georgian architecture in Australia. You can explore the heritage-listed buildings of the town including the Callington Mill and the convict-built court house and gaol. Browse through the craft shops, relax in a local tearoom or take a ghost tour after dark.
