Maize Island Conservation Park
Located two kiloemtres north of Waikerie and is accessed via the "Holder Settlement" road. The park is backed by magnificent cliffs and contains many backwater lagoons lined by tall trees and fringed with Lignum. This habitat provides ideal conditions for a variety of water birds. Hollows in the Red Gums provide habitat for a range of brightly coloured birds that flit between Cooba and Hop-bushes. Strong currents in the area make it necessary to take great care when swimming.
