Located in the heart of picturesque McLaren Vale lies the highly renowned and much visited Almond Carriage Cafe and Wine Bar. The second carriage of two vintage rail cars lies in the middle of the Main Street of world acclaimed McLaren Vale. This 1908 vintage centenary rail carriage once serviced the Adelaide to Willunga passenger service, now it permanently adorns the Main Street, retro-fitted as a cafe, wine bar, old fashioned milk bar and so much more.
All board, and step back in time as you enjoy a glass of premium regional wine and cheese platter in one of the originally fitted booth’s as it was in 1908. Perhaps you might like to enjoy a leisurely all day breakfast or lunch on our alfresco decking, admiring the beautiful scenery along the walking and bike track at the rear.
We also offer our famous 43 flavours of old fashioned milk shakes, thick shake and nut sundae for the young at heart, as well as the Kids Corner with chalk boards, games and stuff, just to ensure all kids big and small, adore the train.
At the Carriage Cafe its not just the carriage and milkshakes that are old fashioned, you can be sure you will always receive excellent, friendly service, along with fantastic value for money to ensure your visit is a great memory.

Easy to find, just travel down South Road to the Victor Harbour Road then travel along until you reach the McLaren Vale turn off and there is the Carriage Cafe, just half way down the Main Road.
