Hugh Hamilton Wines
Hugh Hamilton's Cellar Door is one of the most stunning in the region.
An inspired glass rotunda set on a ridge, for a near 360-degree vista of the region, with views of the hills to the south, the Mount Lofty ranges to the east and the coast to the west.
Hugh is the fifth generation of the Hamilton family who planted the first vines in 1837. All families have black sheep and Hugh is it. The black sheep is master of a most reprobate flock with wines such as 'The Trickster' Verdelho, 'The Rascal' Shiraz and 'The Madam' Sparkling Merlot.
Hugh's Cellar Door also specialises in regional produce and gourmet goods many of which can be tasted.
The first Sunday of each month May to October is Hugh's Oister Day where he shucks west coast oysters, a variety of non-oyster dishes are available.
Groups by appointment only.
