Mount Dutton Bay Woolshed Museum
Explore South Australia's sheep-shearing heritage at the The Mount Dutton Bay Woolshed. It takes you back to the time of 'blade-shearers', 'tar-boys', 'rousies' and 'cooks and quarters'.
The Woolshed looks much as it did back in 1875. Since 1990, it's been lovingly restored, charmingly presented and placed under State Heritage Listing. It sits between the beautiful Marble Ranges and the tranquil waters of Mount Dutton Bay.
The museum displays shearing and farming memorabilia. Some were found under the debris from the Woolshed at the time of restoration. A popular item of interest is the fully restored 'Robinson Double-Box Woolpress' (1875), now in working order.
Stroll down the heritage-listed jetty where ketches used to load bails of wool - it's directly opposite the Woolshed. At its peak 1600 bails of wool were loaded onto the ketches. Experience the natural beauty and breathtaking views.
Heritage tours are available for groups or couples. Booking are essential. A small fee per person applies. 'Duttonshire Teas' are also available for groups and bookings are required.
