Russell River National Park
Paperbarks and mangrove forests line the many creeks and rivers in tranquil, unspoiled Russell River National Park. In this area the meandering Russell River joins forces with the Mulgrave River before entering the sea in a shared estuary. The access road runs between the beach and Blue Metal Creek up to the creek mouth. Bush camp in one of five secluded sites next to the beach. Look for spectacled flying-foxes. Wander along the beach that stretches south for kilometres. Fish at the picturesque creek mouth - but look out for crocodiles.
