Rosehill Homestead

Rosehill Homestead, built in 1859 of hand-made clay bricks for pioneer John Eaton, and set in a picturesque park overlooking the Mary River, is a must see for those on the heritage trail in Maryborough.

Rosehill features rich cedar fittings and delicately etched and coloured glass, imported from Italy; attractive round brick columns at the front of the house are a unique feature. Lovingly restored as a family home, Rosehill is furnished with antiques, including a century-old Pianola and gramophone, which are played for visitors.

In the grounds is the original well, still in use, and the old washhouse complete with its copper and other laundry items of yesteryear and attached 'his' and 'hers' thunderboxes. A working blacksmith is on site demonstrating his craft.

Rosehill also offers wine tastings and sales from nearby Mount Appallan Vineyards with a tasty cheese platter in idyllic surroundings, or you can sample the delicious Devonshire teas, served on fine china.
