Custom House Hotel

Mr George Galbraith was the proprietor of Maryborough's Custom House Hotel when it was built in 1868. 1883 saw the Customs House extended. Its past elegance reflects the rapid growth of the port at the time of the 1867 Gympie gold rush. The hotel had a brush with fame in 1989 when it was used as a setting for the filming of the movie "The Delinquents" starring Kylie Minogue. The ghosts of a man, women and two children have been said to pass through closed doors in an upstairs room of the hotel.
