Goonoo State Forest
Goonoo State Forest covers an area of more than 62,000hectares of ironbark forest. The forest is suitable for bushwalks and bushcamping. Goonoo State Forest is home to the endangered and magnificent malleefowl (Leipoa ocellata).
L:ess than 5% of the forest is selectively harvested each year . Surveys are conducted before all harvesting operations to identify malleefowl and other native animals.
Timber harvesting is excluded from at least a 100 metre radius around any malleefowl roost or nest site identified. Regular fox baiting programs are also carried out to control fox numbers and minimise the threat to malleefowl from predators
There are no developed facilities but there are reasonably good roads throughout.
