Mount Victoria and District Historical Society Inc Museum
The Mount Victoria and District Historical Society Inc Museum has an amazing collection of Australiana, spanning from the early explorers and convict times to more recent social history, as well as memorabilia, photographs and historic records of Mount Victoria and District.
There are examples of early farming tools and dairy utensils, natural history including animal and bird life, laundry and kitchenware, the local mining industry and a collection of early photographic equipment. Also on display is the Railway Refreshment Room tableware, as well as a schoolroom and clothing from the early 1900s.
Local history publications and souvenirs are available for purchase.
The grand, old, sandstone railway station, in which the collection is housed, is in itself a worthwhile visit, as a reminder of the days of steam train travel.
There is something of interest for everyone, as you step back into the past.
