Mondo Nougat began in 1992 in Midland, Perth Western Australia as Mondo Patisserie. Initially we were producers and retailers of traditional Italian style patisserie including cakes, biscuits, ice creams, petit mignon and traditional Italian specialities. Production of Nougat coincided with the Christmas festive season as per various European traditions. It was not until 1997, after finding that there was a very strong demand for traditional honey-based nougat that production was continued throughout the year.
Mondo Patisserie, due to overwhelming demand, decided to shift its focus and concentrate purely on nougat. In 2000 a purpose built factory and retail outlet was opened in under the new name of Mondo Nougat.
Working under the motto: Tradition Innovation Excellence, Alfonso Romeo and his family have taken a family secret dating back many generations and introduced the local market to Soft Nougat, Crunchy Nougat, Flavoured Nougat and most recently Crème de Nougat, a spreadable nougat gaining praise from restaurateurs, chefs and of course general consumers.
