Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival
From about 3,000 attendees at the inaugural 2002 event, organisers say the sixth annual Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival promises to be the best yet.
The town centre is closed for traffic and a variety of stalls and free activities are set up, including bouncy castles, a bucking bull, miniature train rides and face painting for the kids, local solo artists and bands, fashion parades, log chopping, farmers markets, a wine tasting tent and the all-important cherry pip spitting contest.
Bus tours will leave every half- hour providing people with a guided tour of a working cherry orchard. As in past years, it can be expected that appearances will be made at the festival by celebrity guests.
On the Saturday night half the town and the many visitors attracted to the festival will head for the Timber and Heritage Park in the centre of Manjimup for the bring your own alcohol, picnic-style concert.
On Sunday the Long Table Lunch for 200 guests will be served in the middle of a working cherry orchard. Diners can relax under shady cherry laden trees with the fruit of love and enjoy four courses of cherry-infused local produce, including the famous black truffles, matched with local wines.
