Strawberry and Cherry Weekend Festival
Head to Bacchus Marsh on 22 and 23 November 2008 for the annual Strawberry and Cherry Weekend Festival. The event will showcase fine wines, locally produced fruit and vegetables and the opportunity to experience the true vibe of a rural town which is renowned for its orchards and market gardens.
For the adventurous type there will be hot air balloon rides, scenic and glider flights as well as the opportunity to participate in the famous fresh fruit and wine lovers trail. There will also be many great prizes to be won through several activities for participants of all ages.
For the more subdued, you may enjoy a drive down the famous Avenue of Honour which is amongst the finest and most splendid of such avenues of elms and a proud memorial to the fallen of World War 1. Whilst driving through the historical Avenue of Honour you can stop off at a fruit stall to taste some of the locally grown produce. On the other hand, you may like to use this opportunity to look at one of Victoria s oldest towns many historical buildings including the historical Court House, the Tudor-style Border Inn, the Blacksmith's Cottage, and a number of churches dating back to the 1800s.
