Queensland Youth Symphony - Petrouchka
The final concert of Queensland Youth Symphony's 2008 Masterpiece Series has a distinctive French theme. Beginning with Ravel's lyrical waltz La Valse, the orchestra is then joined by acclaimed Brisbane organist Christopher Wrench performing French composer Poulenc's Organ Concerto. The concert concludes with Stravinsky's score for Petrouchka, a ballet of extraordinary inspiration, first performed in Paris in 1911 and a real tour de force for symphony orchestra. The Queensland Youth Symphony was established in 1966 and is conducted by founder and Director of Music, John Curro AM MBE. Come along and see what the Queensland Youth Symphony has to offer.
